Oh... Haven't been posting stuff and now I'm ready to rant! I should rename this blog as Rant Blog XD

Now, do note that this post is biased, subjective (and everything else that could induce a hardcore fan of mine, if I have one, to commit murder just for the sake of me).

Oh, another note is that this rant is directed at the people I meet. My company is a good one apparently, but some people are just not perfect enough. I know, I know, people are never perfect. *imitates Jeff from CH* But that doesn't mean I can't criticize you XD

Ok, as of now there's 3 trainees. N so, apparently, before the end of today, probably exactly at 530pm, our trainer sent an email to us. I didn't see it, but according to my fellow trainee, it was an email telling us not to surf the net and not to return late from lunch. Thus, my rant. Heh.

Not surfing the net. No complains about that, of course. But I'd still feel sore. Surfing the net for a while to take breaks, or search for resources to help enhance work is a good thing. Ah, but probably 95% of the world population can't control themselves not to surf for entertainment. That includes me. I still feel if it's not fatal to the continuity of the business (or if it's not porn), it should be made an open secret that everyone surfs once in a while even though you're not supposed to.

Lunch. According to HR, lunch is an hour, any time from 12-2pm. Now, coincidentally, today our trainer had a meeting with his manager and so he wasn't around at the same office as where we were. And coincidentally, we went for lunch late. Even without the anytime rule, I'd be still indignant to fully consume my one hour regardless what time I went for lunch.
So today, we went for lunch at around 12.10pm. We returned at 1.10pm. The trainer was already in the training room so he called out to us when he saw us coming in so that we can start the session.
My focus here is that from 1.10pm till 5pm, there's almost 4 hours to query us why we came back late from lunch. And it's very easy to check us out.
"What time did you go for lunch?"
Nope, he didn't do that, if you were asking. And that's why I was offended by the email.
I might sound picky, but let's take a look at this seemingly extreme scenario.
I settle for lunch at around 12.30-1.30pm. And if he doesn't notice the time I leave (anw, if he did, I'd report him as a stalker), it would seem as if I was back late from Lunch. Now, he tells me repeatedly 'Pls don't come back late from lunch.' If I were a bit more insensitive, I would have nodded my head quietly to indicate I understand n I've been obedient all the time. I would probably keep wondering, 'Why does he keep on saying that? Is he senile or sth?'
Then the trouble happens when they review u and say stuff like 'We can't keep u here after your probabtion cos u always come back late from lunch.'
Trust me. It's happened to other people.
And I personally feel the accusing party's 'then why didn't you explain to me the first time?' excuse is invalid. Why? Cos, usually, noobs would be too intimidated to retaliate cos they'd be thinking 'is this the norm for bullying newbies?'

In any case, I just dislike people who doesn't ask. It's not fun to see an email just before you're ready to go home happily telling you that you shouldn't eat late n you shouldn't surf porn. Both that you didn't do.

Of course when u start feeling unhappy about a person, u begin to think of all the small stuff he did before n feel some of them are really insensitive. For example, he mentioned about 'widow' and 'orphan' in articles. Then he asks both of us trainees, 'do you know what's a widow and orphan?' I shook my head. My colleague too.
Then he directed at my colleague, "You don't know what is a widow n orphan? I thought you were a mass com student? Didn't they teach that in school?"
Did they? What gave you the confidence that they did? Did you attend the exact same University, the exact same class with the exact same lecturer?
As a Trainer, I feel this is one of the forbidden questions they shouldn't do. Or at least, do it in a professional way.
If you are a trainer, you TRAIN. When you train, u assume that your trainees are ignorant. And, even if you're not a trainer, you shouldn't assume they know everything cos the same things can mean differently to different people. Who knows, maybe in some other culture, they use other terms to explain widow and orphan?

Now, I'm not irresponsible so lemme tell u what exactly is a widow and orphan.
A widow is first line or sentence that dangles alone at the end of the page. An orphan is the last line or sentence that dangles alone at the top of the page. And if you find out it's wrong, then google it, n remember what's right. Don't bother to tell me now, cos i'd be pissed off.

Other than that, everything seems ok in the company. The only thing I can point out easily and criticize is that HR n Trainer didn't work out schedules well enough. For one thing, the 3rd trainee only started her first day today, ie she was later than us by 3 days. This means that the trainer has to repeat his teaching to just one person. Wouldn't it be more effective if they made sure who they have n wanted or actually made use of the training schedules that they had prepared for the trainer? I believe the same thing happened to us (meaning someone had his/her training a week or even lesser before us), n thus the trainer was kinda lazy n frustrated with the training.

Again, simple tech stuff aren't really accessible easily. But then again, I have to understand that noobs will always go 'are u sure Microsoft will not steal our data while they update our Word?'

They also emphasized about everyone being friendly, so far, none of that happening yet. I feel it would have been better if they assigned someone to be ur babysitter (regardless if they would train you OTJ or not) so that you dun feel lonely. Everyone's just busy tapping away and giving u no shit. Probably it wouldn't turn out better in the next week, but thank goodness I'm a natural anti-social.

The only bad thing now is that I stutter a lot nowadays. ORZ

7. A bigger room. Even better; another room dedicated to my collection of books and manga

8. Get a specialised sth degree so that I can work freelance or something seemingly relaxing

9. Have my own comics rental shop or anime cafe

10. A really good AFA with Ishida Akira as Guest (or someone as good)
